The general myth is that acids are dangerous. This is not true. Acids come in all shapes - some that are dangerous (like sulphuric and hydrochloric acid) and others that actually help.

Our experience with Indian skin has taught us that alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) work to exfoliate and brighten the skin, while others like hyaluronic acid and amino acids work to repair the skin.

The Acid Atlas

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Glycolic and lactic acids are the most common AHAs you will hear about. They move through the skin to dissolve the glue that holds the dead skin together. Glycolic acid is great for pigmentation, aging, dull skin and it also hydrates your skin. Lactic acid is slower acting and works for sensitive skins for long term effects.

It's important to know that if you've never used these, you should start slow and then build up so that your skin doesn't freak out. Since Indian skin is more sensitive, its vital that you use sunscreen during the day and follow these products with using a moisturizer like our Miracle Cream.

AHAs are in our Extra Gentle Daily Peel for a deeper treatment, and our Gulab & Glycolic toner for priming the skin. Check the product links or DM us on instagram to learn how to integrate them into your routine.

Hyaluronic & Amino Acids: Hyaluronic acid & amino acids already exist in your skin. Hyaluronic acid is what gives it the plumpness and hydration. It works to absorb moisture from the outside to rebuild your skin. Amino acids are the building blocks for new skin cells and work to repair damaged and dull skin.

Indian skin tends to go low on these because of the constant abuse we face from pollution, dust and UV. Its almost necessary to include these in your regimen to fix this abuse for a glowing complexion.

They can be found in several of our products including our Multitasking Miracle Cream, our Indoor Protection Mist, our Gulab & Glycolic toner, our Date & Quinoa Eye Cream and many more.

Other Acids in Nature: Several other acids exists in nature in oils (like fatty acids) and extracts (like egallic acid in pomegranate). They all work well to help us build our skin, work to brighten, clarify and give us that extra special glow.

Our extensive experience in understanding their impact on Indian skin has made us learn that when used in the right concentrations, with the right environment - they work as our friends and help our skin!
